How to Create MORE Success

How to Create MORE Success

I've recently been leading myself and my clients through something called "Success Integration," a powerful concept I learned from one of my teachers.

Let me know if this sounds familiar:

You have a big win, it feels amazing, you maybe do a happy dance, and then you quickly move on to the next thing.

Yesterday, I talked about the importance of pausing to celebrate our achievements. It's actually science.

By using positive reinforcement - be that treating yourself to something special, sharing a hug with a loved one, or basking in the glow of your victory - you tell your brain that the behaviors that created this magical result are GOOD. That they bear repeating. And, by rewarding yourself in some way, you increase your likelihood of doing those same things again in the future.

That's all well and very very good.

But would you like to take it deeper?

Would you like to routinely be the person who creates these big wins, over and over and over again?

Then you'll love "success integration."

This is what separates, at least in business, the champions from the trying.

No matter what your goal, this will get you there faster and with more consistent, repeatable results.

----- Why are you green? ------

When I worked in manufacturing, we would review assembly line metrics daily with the leadership team. If a cell had green metrics, meaning they hit all their goals the previous day, most managers wanted to say "good job" and move on to the next. Look for the red, the problems. Fight fires. Keep things moving.

My job, as a continuous improvement specialist, was to stop leadership and ask the people working in that assembly line "WHY were you green?"

Understanding exactly how we create success is what makes it repeatable.

Not luck.

Not magic.

Not a fluke.

So, how does one figure out how they created their result? How do we do success integration?

Step 1

Write down your result. What did you create? Be specific.

Then, sit there and acknowledge, just for a moment, how badass that is. You did that!

Step 2

Note any specific circumstances or details you think are important about this result. For example, if you are a business owner and signed a client, you might capture how that person found you, how they engaged with your business, or what they were looking for when they reached out. Don't spend too much time here, but write down anything you think is important.

Step 3

Wrack your brain and write down all of the ACTIONS you took to create this result. What did you DO? What had to be in place for this result to happen?

Everything from showing up to a call to adding a contact form on your website to sending an invoice. - biz example

Lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks? Write down all of the actions you took that made that happen.

You are literally writing the script for what you will continue to do in the future to create more of these results, so be specific and take your time here. LEARN from this. It's pure gold.

Step 4

Write down everything you were FEELING to create this result.

Were you feeling confident? Joyful? Optimistic?

Capture it all. These are the feelings you're going to want to cultivate going forward to create more of these results. This is part of your -being-. Who you are being when you create results is just as important as what you are doing.

Step 5

Magic here, folks.

Write down all of the THOUGHTS and BELIEFS you had when you were creating this big win that contributed to it happening.

"I can do this."

"I'm good at what I do."

"This is possible for me."

If you're not regularly coaching yourself or journaling, this may be tricky, but it will be the best way to get into your head and tap into your genius.

Step 6

Once you've captured all of that, read through it. Soak it in.

Then, last but not least, write down your result again and then write down how you feel about it. What are your thoughts about creating that? This is where the real integration happens. Where you take this win into your identity. You are the person who signed a $4k client. The person who lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks. The person who got into the university of her dreams.

Step 7

If you are that person, who created that result, what else might be possible for you? Dream a little. Play a little.

Go celebrate yo' damn self!!
